The Sangguniang Bayan of President Quirino, headed by Vice Mayor Meris Ian D. Aradanas, has approved a resolution interposing no objection to the proposed 6.256-megawatt President Quirino Solar Power Plant. The measure was passed during the Regular Session held at the SB Hall on March 30, 2026.
The proposed solar power facility, to be developed by Sultan Kudarat Solar Energy, Inc., is seen as a significant step toward advancing renewable energy initiatives within the municipality.
The project is also anticipated to generate economic opportunities for the local community which includes job creation during the construction and operational phases, as well as potential increases in local revenues and investments.
Present during the session were OIC-General Manager Wilfredo M. Evangelista and Engr. Michael Jay Lebanan, who provided insights into the technical and operational aspects of the project. Representative from King Energy was likewise in attendance, expressing support and commitment to the successful implementation of the program.
The approval signifies the municipality’s support for initiatives that contribute to energy security, environmental sustainability and local economic development.
