In celebration of SUKELCO’S Golden Anniversary, the Kidlat Talas Gold 2025 Grand Finals was held on October 13 at the Tacurong City Sports and Cultural Center, bringing together 15 top high schools from across the province for an exciting quiz bowl competition.
The event opened with a warm welcome from Dr. Wilfredo M. Evangelista, OIC-General Manager of SUKELCO, followed by a message from the SUKELCO Board of Directors delivered by Board President Suraina M. Kalid, who also serves as the President Quirino and Columbio District Director.
Messages of support came from several notable figures including Gildo G. Mosqueda, CEO VI, Tacurong City Schools Division Superintendent represented by Ronald Pelitro, Division English Coordinator of SDO Tacurong City, Crispin A. Soliven, Jr., CESE, Sultan Kudarat Schools Division Superintendent represented Dr. Rodolfo B. Bermudo, Jr., Education Program Supervisor and Atty. Rossan SJ. Rosero-Lee, NEA Deputy Administrator for Legal Services, who highlighted the importance of academic competitions in shaping future leaders.
A total of 15 high schools competed in the grand finals, representing the districts of Lebak, Bagumbayan, Esperanza, Isulan, and Tacurong. These schools underwent elimination rounds from 82 participating schools in the the province of Sultan Kudarat and Maguindanao Del Sur.
Panelist includes: Rev. Fr. Louieleo Gerard D. Pelingon, DCC, President Quirino Parish Priest, Fiscal Aishettea Ace P. Moleño, Prosecution Attorney, Dr. Rodolfo B. Bermudo, Jr., SK Education Program Supervisor in Math, Atty. May Flor C. Abuedo, NEA Legal Staff and Atty. Rossan Rosero-Lee, NEA Deputy Administrator.
Lebak Legislated National High School successfully defended their title for the third consecutive year, proving their consistent academic prowess and preparation. It was followed by Sultan Kudarat State University – Laboratory High School and Bagumbayan National High School as 1st and 2nd Runners Up respectively.

The event not only celebrated competition but also honored SUKELCO’s commitment to community development and youth empowerment as part of its 50th anniversary. The success of KIDLAT TALAS GOLD 2025 affirms that academic excellence and cooperative spirit remain strong in Sultan Kudarat.
