SUKELCO has formally coordinated with the Department of Education (DepEd) – Schools Division of Sultan Kudarat regarding the implementation of the Last Mile School Electrification Program, a nationwide initiative aimed at providing reliable and sustainable electricity to public schools located in remote and underserved areas.
The coordination meeting was personally led by SUKELCO OIC- General Manager Wilfredo M. Evangelista, who met with Crispin A. Soliven Jr., Schools Division Superintendent, on June 15, 2026.
The Last Mile School Electrification Program is a collaborative undertaking between the Department of Education and the National Electrification Administration aimed at delivering sustainable energy solutions to schools that remain beyond the reach of conventional power distribution systems.
Under the program, 44 electric cooperatives nationwide are working together to energize 294 public schools and 1,708 classrooms through the deployment of 662 Solar Power System (SPS) units. The initiative seeks to improve access to quality education by ensuring that students and teachers in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas have dependable electricity for learning and school operations.
SUKELCO expressed its commitment to supporting the program within its franchise area and to working closely with DepEd in identifying and facilitating the electrification needs of six (6) identified schools in Sultan Kudarat.
