Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat. A consultative meeting was held yesterday, December 6, 2024 among stakeholders, Board and Management from Sultan Kudarat Electric Cooperative (SUKELCO), South Cotabato 2 Electric Cooperative (SOCOTECO 2), National Power Corporation-SPUG, local government unit (LGU) of Palimbang headed by Mayor Joenime Kapina, and Member Consumer Owners to address growing concerns about the energy supply in the municipality.
The meeting which took place at the Palimbang Municipal Gymnasium focused on tackling the challenges faced by local residents due to frequent power interruptions and increasing energy demands.
SUKELCO Area 3 Services Department Manager, Engr. Remil A. Fuyonan presented the energy situation in the area. SOCOTECO 2 headed by General Manager, Geronimo Desesto was also invited and explained the reasons of the recurring power interruptions experienced by the areas of Southern Palimbang supplied by their electric cooperative.
Board President Suraina M. Kalid highlighted the initiatives conducted by the Board and Management to address the concerns of MCOs emphasizing short term solutions and efforts to enhance efficiency and ensure reliable power supply to the growing population.
The LGU Palimbang expressed their gratitude and marked the meeting as an important step towards securing a stable and sustainable energy future of the municipality.
The consultative meeting concluded with an open forum to provide a platform for MCOs to voice their problems and eventually address and resolve their concerns.
